Get to know: Martijn Van Herck
That great data and analytics work @ Cubis, we owe it all to our consultants. But who are the people that hide behind their computer screen? We pulled some of them out of the shadows so you could get to know them!
Meet Martijn Van Herck, a Cubis consultant with a passion for data! But who is Martijn really?
Well, he answered some questions for us! 🖋
What was your nicest experience at Cubis?
So far, it’s been all nice experiences, not exaggerating here.
From the first day I started and had a very warm welcome, along with those first few weeks in the Academy, to starting my first project and being able to count on my fellow colleagues for guidance and insights.
Next to that we have had great teambuildings, monthly meetups and so much more. They’re always a lot of fun.
It’s been a nice ride all around.
What are your specialties?
I’ve never been the most gifted programmer, but I feel like my strengths lie in being tenacious and wanting to learn.
I don’t easily give up and I’ll always go for it a 100%.
There’s a great quote out there about this I try to keep in mind.
“Hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard.”
Can you explain what kind of work you have been doing?
My previous projects have been mostly located on the “Front-end”.
Meaning that I sit together with end users to try to create and maintain all kinds of useful and insightful reports.
You could look at it like building a bridge between IT and the Business.
What is your favorite Book?
The Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Call me a nerd, but I love everything about this world and the characters that Tolkien created.
New races, new mythology, new geography, a complete history of another world that never existed, all pulled out of thin air.
That’s something you have to respect, even if you’re not a fantasy lover.
What is your favorite Holiday destination?
The next one. 🙂
