The first weeks at Cubis and Lytix

First steps

On the first of September, we started our new journey at Cubis and Lytix. All five of the starters just graduated in June and were very excited to begin. Hanne, Bart, and Bert started at Cubis, while Emma and Jasper joined Lytix.

On the morning of our first day, Dorien and Evi welcomed us with a tour around the building, followed by a presentation where all HR-related things were explained. After that, Jeroen gave us a presentation about the company where he told something more about Cubis and Lytix, some important values of the company, and on what projects our colleagues are currently working. We ended our first day with a small, general SAP introduction.

Cubis and Lytix Academy

In the following days and weeks, we had a very elaborate training program with a lot of different, interesting subjects. We had trainings that were followed by both Cubis and Lytix starters, such as Data Strategy to learn about how to comprehensively support data management across an organization, Data Science which is lately a very hot topic to gain knowledge and insights from data by using algorithms and statistics, PowerBI in order to make unreadable data, readable. Besides the technical trainings focused on hard skills, we have also learned to boost our soft skills by following courses around presentation, interviewing, and consulting skills which was a very nice experience!

There were also trainings that were given separately. The Cubis starters followed several trainings on different aspects of SAP technology from ERP (S/4HANA, functional processes) to Data Warehousing (data modeling, BW, HANA) to Data Visualization with tools such as Sap Analytics Cloud, Analysis for Office, Webi. The Lytix starters covered Microsoft-specific tools such as Azure Synapse, SQL, DAX, and Azure DevOps. Thanks to this extensive training program we all feel ready and confident to start our first projects for clients.

Next steps

Emma and Jasper are currently at the start of their project at SESVanderHave, a world player in the production of sugar beet seeds. “We are diving into the world of Data Warehousing, using Azure Data Factory, and reporting with PowerBI. We expect this project to be very interesting, challenging, and a great learning opportunity.”

Hanne will start in two weeks with an SAP Analytics Cloud Project at Barco while Bart and Bert will be working on some internal projects awaiting their first project.

How’s life at Cubis/Lytix?

From day one, it’s been a pleasure working at Cubis/Lytix. It’s one big family and we were all accepted immediately! During all the training and work there’s always room for laughter and jokes. Afterwork activities are a big part of the culture here, but because of the current Covid situation, it’s been difficult to arrange these events.

Nevertheless, our HR team, Evi and Dorien, did a fantastic job organizing a Coronaproof teambuilding. We headed down to rural Durbuy for a day of activities in the adventure park! High Climbing courses via ferratas and ziplines are only a few of the available activities! We got to know our colleagues in a beautiful and Corona-safe setting.

And as icing on the cake, at the end of the day, we were treated to a tasteful BBQ buffet. …
